Dunkin' announced it will stop charging customers extra for non-dairy milk, following a trend that Starbucks and others have already implemented, a spokesman for its parent company, Inspire Brands, confirmed to TODAY.com.
âEffective March 5, dairy alternatives will be standard options for Dunkinâ beverages at no additional cost to guests,â the spokesperson said in an email. âThis will allow guests visiting any Dunkinâ location to enjoy traditional dairy or alternative dairy options in any beverage without an additional charge.â
The spokesperson said the decision was "guided by guest feedback" and aimed to improve customer experience.
âThis enhances Dunkinâs ability to offer guests a wide range of beverage customizations, allowing them to enjoy quality Dunkinâ beverages â their way â at a great value,â the email stated.
Dunkin' is the latest coffee chain to nix its nondairy milk charges in American and Canadian stores following the likes of Starbucks, Dutch Bros, Tim Hortons, Scooter's Coffee and Panera Bread, according to No Milk Tax, a nondairy milk advocacy group.
âCore to the Starbucks Experience is the ability to customize your beverage to make it yours. By removing the extra charge for non-dairy milks weâre embracing all the ways our customers enjoy their Starbucks,â Starbucksâ chairman and CEO Brian Niccol said last year in a press release announcing the company's decision last year.
