Kelsea Ballerini “screamed, cried, threw up,” she said as she made her acting debut as a “bridezilla” on Doctor Odyssey. The latest episode of the recently-premiered drama arrived on Thursday evening (November 7).
Ballerini shared a carousel of photos and videos on Instagram to mark the Doctor Odyssey episode’s premiere. On the second slide, she captured a sassy line she delivered in a scene with actress Phillipa Soo, which many Instagram users called out in the comments. Fellow singer-songwriter Kylie Morgan, for example, wrote: “Damn queen with the one line mic drop🔥” Carly Pearce hailed Ballerini a “natural” onscreen.
“It hurts, doesn’t it?” Ballerini said on the show. “I mean, it must really hurt watching another woman succeed when you failed.”
The Patterns artist plays Lisa, a bride-to-be who “wreaks havoc on board. Amid the chaos, love and lust manage to find their way through the air with sparks flying among the crew,” reads the IMDb description of the episode, titled “I Always Cry at Weddings.” Ballerini shared a sneak peek of her wedding dress on TikTok hours before the episode aired on ABC. It’s also available now on Hulu.
Ballerini said when she announced in September that she’d make her acting debut that she was “crossing guest star off the bucket list.” She promised “more soon on my episode and obsession with the utterly lovely kind and brilliant cast.”
Doctor Odyssey follows Max, played by Joshua Jackson, “the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship where the small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore,” per IMDb. The cast includes Jackson, Soo, Sean Teale, Don Johnson and others.
