Alex Trebek's Daughter Honors Late TV Icon On Anniversary Of Cancer Reveal

Alex Trebek's memory lives in, courtesy of his daughter Nicky Trebek, who shared a sweet tribute in honor of her late father.

Exactly two years after the Jeopardy! host announced his Stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis, Nicky, who is the daughter of the late host's ex-wife Elaine Trebek Kares, took to Instagram for the touching post. "It was 2 years ago today while we were working on the @jeopardy set that my dad bravely stepped out in front of the camera to announce he had been diagnosed with #pancreatic cancer," she captioned a photo of the pair with the hashtag #missingyoueveryday. "He brought much-needed awareness to this terrible disease and provided hope to so many struggling."

During Trebek's reveal, which he announced on the Jeopardy! YouTube channel, the host offered openness and optimism to viewers. "I wanted to be the one to pass along this information," the star said at the time. "Just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working."

As you know, Trebek died on November 8 due to the battle. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, show executive producer Mike Richards shared details about the beloved TV icon's last day with his family. "He had a nice final day. He was out on his swing that he loved with his wife and surrounded by family," Richards said of Trebek's time with wife Jean. "It was a very peaceful day, there were laughs, and then he went to sleep."
