Most couples seal their vows with a kiss, but Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans went a step further.
The couple, who recently tied the knot in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, is opening up about their lavish ceremony on the beach, telling People before they were pronounced husband and wife they joined their 100 guests in a tequila shot toast.
âItâs a little bit different,â Kelsea says, âbut thatâs how we started.â
In the new interview, Morgan also describes his now wifeâs handwritten vows as âpoetic, sweetâ and âmind-blowingly good.â As for his, though, an emotional surprise caused a vow shortening.
âI said mine, and I was going to finish with a few lines of the first song I wrote for her [called âDance with Meâ],â Morgan says. âI got halfway through them, and she started to lose it, then I started to lose itâso I ended up having to cut it a little bit short!â
The guests, one of which was Lady Antebellumâs Charles Kelley, watched the coupleâs first dance to Christina Perriâs âA Thousand Yearsâ and ate tacos, ceviche and churros as well as a four-tier white, red velvet and carrot cake from Cabo Cakery.
Even still, Kelsea adds, âWeâre not âwedding people.â Itâs more being married that weâre stoked about.â
